The model E218P utilizes the pentatonic scale (five tones to the octave) which is considered to be universal, natural, harmonious, and has no wrong notes. Non-musicians can play this instrument and it will sound very musical.

The original ethnic balaphone or balafon instrument uses gourds as resonators. ​

Instead of gourd resonators, this instrument use rectangular cavity resonators made from Baltic birch plywood.

Bars are made of straight-grained African Padauk.

Finish is a semi-gloss, water-based clear coat.

Has built-in mallet rack. Yarn wound mallets are included.

Includes On Stage KS7291XX Ergo-Lok Pro Double X Keyboard Stand (adjustable height).

Plywood box with hinges and handles provided to protect the instrument.

Optional Folding Wooden Stand with Casters
The wooden stand provides a means to keep the balaphone in a more permanently set-up condition. On the stand, the bar height is 32-1/2"
